Where it all began. My sports dream, the Ironman World Championships in Kona Hawaii
It all began when I watched a documentary about the Ironman World Championships in Kona-Hawaii in 2009. The amazing stories of people who finish this brutal race between 8 and 17 hours. Swimming 2.4 miles (3.8 km), biking 112 miles (180 km) and running 26.2 miles (42 km km). I thought: “I want to do this one day”. To me, the distance sounds like the ultimate race where both physical and mental fitness are tested in every way. The fact that you also need to qualify for this specific race makes it more challenging. The fittest triathletes all over the world are trying to earn a spot in this race.
I’ve watched every documentary there is so far and it keeps me motivated to achieve this long term goal. Even when it is hard to put your running shoes on at some moments. when I lack motivation, footage like this keep me going. Inspiring in every way.
