Rain rain rain… – Alkmaar City Run 2014
Here is a quick update on my latest running event. On Wednesday the 28th of May, I took the challenge at the second edition of the Alkmaar City Run (by night). It was my first time I ran a 10km in a race. It was through and around the center of Alkmaar crossing almost every street there is.
One bummer about the event was that it rained the whole time. Although it felt good to run in the rain, it made some parts a bit slippery and the event itself besides the running did not reached its full potential. They arranged a lot in terms of music and drinks on the Canadaplein, but people were not able to enjoy it. Better luck next year!
I ran a good solid 10km in 47 minutes and 6 seconds with an average speed of 12,7 km/h. Some streets, especially in the beginning were quite narrow so it was hard to keep my own running speed for the first 2 km. It was easy in terms of strength, but I just couldn’t run faster. I reckon I need to do more intervals and leg speed workouts to increase the time of my next running event.
